Resume

Rainer Gross, born 1979 in Zurich, Switzerland, studied Biochemistry with specialisation in Biotechnology from 2000-2005 at the ETH Zurich. During his studies he did an internship at the Institute of Biotechnology of Prof. D. Cowan at the University of the Western Cape, Cape Town, South Africa, where he worked on nitrile-converting bacteria from Antarctic soils from February-June 2004. He got an ERASMUS Stipendium for an external Diploma Thesis at the Laboratory of Chemical Biotechnology of Prof. A. Schmid, Technische Universität Dortmund from April to October 2005.
Since December 2005, he is working in the Technical Enzymology Group on his PhD on catalytically active biofilms as novel designer biocatalysts for long-term biotransformations.
